Obviously this man had already been subjected to screening by TSA, yet "Passengers reported hearing strange noises coming from a plastic bag. State police said later that the bag contained a set of keys, a bagel with cream cheese, some other small food items, a hat and a wallet". I wonder if passengers who hear talking bagels ;-) are a security concern.

The refusal to stop cellphone use should have been enough...

Glad to see passengers are reporting possible threats to TSA and flight crew to help in stop terrorist attacks. I however, don't think a bagel with cream cheese and a wallet with keys will cause any harm.

I think most people would be surprised at how unreliable eyewitness accounts typically are. Ratchet up the anxiety level of a person and their senses become very unreliable. Enter a rude man with a cell phone in a cramped space with a hundred or so people trying to keep a tight travel schedule. It doesn't take much of an imagination to believe that they may have just wanted the man to leave the plane so they could get on with their lives. That same group of people trained to distrust one another suddenly start hearing "suspicious" noises from a stranger's bag.

We're in a sorry state in this country. We've been groomed to conjur our own devils our of thin air that are far more dangerous than anything we've actually faced.

Some people are not aware they are on an aircraft and not a Greyhound bus.

We have nothing to fear but fear itself, and bagels with cream cheese.
