A Swiss pilot blinded by a laser

I did not find an English translation since the article appeared in a Swiss newspaper. The article went on to say that pointing lasers at aircraft is becoming a problem around the Zurich airport. The pilot in this case was only temporarily blinded but reported it to the police.

I wonder why someone was using a laser pointer at the airport, and I wonder how long the pilot was blind for, because the article didn't say.

This is not a new phenomena. What is unusual is that this occurred at altitude. Normally idiots with laser pointers try to use them on aircraft either taking off or landing. Either way, only morons would use them. The article does say he was blinded only temporarily.
