NYC airport invaded by turtles, delaying flights
NEW YORK — About 150 turtles crawled onto the tarmac at New York's Kennedy airport Wednesday in search of beaches to lay their eggs, delaying dozens of flights, aviation authorities said. It's one thing if a plane flies through a flock of Canadian geese, with no way to divert. It's another thing to intentionally take off and knowingly kill innocent wildlife to adhere to "on time departure" and avoid paperwork, while killing tiny turtles that have lost their way and are looking for the beach. Heartless.
What "TARMAC?" All I see is concrete taxiways and runways. The author of the article, Chris Hawley, is accurate and resisted the customary and inaccurate use of the word "tarmac," unlike the person who wrote the headline here. There's very little "tarmac" on big airports anymore.
Why don't you Google it?: "turtles on JFK tarmac".
