Study: Post-Vietnam Airmen Exposed to Agent Orange

A new study found that airmen who flew and maintained the C-123 Provider long after the planes were used to spray Agent Orange over Vietnam were exposed to dangerous levels of the dioxin that remained in the aircraft. My father in law used to chip ice of the wings of bombers (And keep cool) flown in the pacific and later they found the aeroplanes still had radioactive material from flying through altitude near or over Mururoa atoll. He died of multiple cancers. Best avionics and airframe engineer ever.

Thanks Joel for the info. So much information is available on Agent Orange it is unbeliveable that the VA won't award these guys their compensation. It is my understanding that 5 C-123's were involved, most were destroyed and half the crew members, or more, are deceased. I am going through screening for Agent Orange, and had to fight like hell to get 80 percent compensation from the VA. I won't take up anymore time on this subject.

I wondered when the sampling was done, and found a link to the journal article. Samples for the research were taken in 2009, and high concentrations were found almost 40 years after the program shut down. If interested in the report, a link to it is here:
