Great Photo Andrew !!
The "Muscle-Car" of WWII era fighters.!
but its not D. rather C
If I were an enemy, I could not bear to shoot at it... I'd have to come over and just gawk at it...
Constructed as a 1942 P-47.

Anyone that ever flew a taildragger with any horsepower and has seen a Bearcat, Corsair or T-Bolt can look at the tiny vertical stab and rudder and instantly know, 'Those guys had legs and they knew how to use them".

Great Shot!
The "Jug" short for Juggernaut. one of the most robust fighters of WW2. It could absorb a lot of punishment & still bring you home.
In response to a a's comment all P-47s before the Block 25 run were Razorbacks like this one.
Block 25 and on, the Jug had a bubble canopy.
As for the photo, there are no words to describe it.
