Very Nice!
When and where was this taken? A C5 with the old MAC livery is a blast from the past. Great picture, thanks for sharing.
Looks like a SAC base, maybe somewhere in the desert southwest or southern California?
It was taken at Carswell AFB, TX around 1978.
It's not a Carswell bird. Any idea what wing/base it was assigned to?? I started working C-5s at Altus AFB, OK in 1978
It was fun when the Okinawans protested enough to get the B-52s removed during the Vietnam war, and shortly after that the Air Force brought in a C-5 to show it off.
The Okinawan commies when ballistic thinking it was a new larger bomber. That was in late 1971.
Great photo and it does bring back memories!

Sorry Galaxyguru, I do not know where the C-5 was based. I was stationed at Carswell AFB when it was a SAC base (B-52D & KC-135A)in the late 70's, and the aircraft arrived the afternoon before a public open house/airshow the next day. I took the opportunity to get the picture then without the crowds around it.
Nice pic Gerald! Memories...too many tell!
Sad to see these C-5 birds getting shredded at Davis-Monthan AFB, Tuscon, AZ.
Great show from the past.
Excellent!

Love it! Blast from the past! I too was as at Altus AFB '75 - '79 as an Air Traffic Controller. C5 pilots were trained there. Seeing three C5's in the touch and go pattern was a sight.
