flaps and airbrakes. The pitch isnt evident at this angle but he must be going pretty slow.
Not exactly "slow". Turning final and still bleeding energy. PA-24s are slick. Crewed N5588P for my dad back in the day. Love that bird.
I remember when my friend dragged that airplane home to his hangar and started to transform it. He did go for gaudy paint jobs though.
