That looks like a very early model Orion, even a P3A, circa 1962. Anyone know when this pic was taken? But then I noticed the high tech antenna on top of the forward fuselage, so definitely NOT from the early 1960's...
Chris, I took that picture in 2012 or 2013 outside of NAS Whidbey Island. That bird is now residing in the boneyard.
It was part of the Centennial of Naval Aviation color schemes. This one is painted up like "BAT 21". It was used by VQ-2, and then VQ-1 following VQ-2's decommissioning. It was parked in 2013 at AMARC, which stands out well on Google Earth due to the black wings in the P-3 rows.
