Roller One Four was the second of three Nevada Air Guard C-130s that landed over the course of about an hour. And the NevANG Hercs weren't the only military aircraft that came by: a USAF C5M Super Galaxy, two USAF Hercs, a Kentucky Air Guard Hercules, and two Navy aircraft also made appearances. It was a fantastic day to see military metal at RNO.

Hi Gary! This is a great shot. Just out of curiosity, what were the Navy a/c that arrived? Looks like very snowy weather in the background!

Howdy, Chris. To answer your question, there was a C-40 Clipper and a P-8A Poseidon, call sign "Eagle Two Tree" ('Three'), reg 169337. We get lots of C-130s, but the Poseidon was rather special and as for the Super Galaxy - unbelievably rare! A couple of years back, a U-2 did a low pass and I've only seen U-2s here twice, but this was the first C5M I've ever seen here - even AF One has been here more often than a Super. I arrived at RNO well before the first rays of dawn and I was there for hours but it was so worth it. I had responded to a request to escort another photog and we were together for a couple of hours but he had to leave so he missed both Navy planes and the C5M. (Thumbs Up) TY for the compli about this pic. How have you been? Stay Safe. (Wave)

Howdy Gary! Thanks for that info re the two Navy a/c. Yep, we have just increased our order for the P8A from twelve, now going up to fourteen aircraft. They will be based at Edinburgh AFB, which is just a bit to the north of Adelaide in South Australia. Kind of like our equivalent of Omaha Nebraska. Centrally located and not vulnerable to any surprise attack from the ocean!
