Lockheed C-130 Hercules (92-0548)

Enviado há

The first C-130H Hercules (92-0548) to go airborne during yesterday's NevANG "High Rollers" exercise propclaws its way directly past my spotting location as it climbs out from Reno Tahoe International's 16R. This click shows how difficult it is to spot a military metalbird; look at how well it blends into the shopping mall area behind it ... and it was not very far away from me when it went past.

* Although the FA data counter below this photo indicates that this is the first photo of 92-0548 to be posted into the gallery, this is actually the second pic. A few months ago, I posted a snap (also taken at RNO) of an N3N-3 (N4009A) and in the background of that pic this same Herc was arriving with Santa aboard. *

Prior to being here as part of the 152nd AW "High Rollers," this Hercules was assigned to "The Rock."

I had been hoping for a multi-ship MITO launch during the exercise, but it didn't happen. When the exercise kicked off, all the Hercs on the NevANG ramp were covered with a blanket of snow. This one was the first one that was ready to go, so it did not wait around. Shortly after I caught this shot, this Herc returned and landed just as the second one was taxiing to take off.

Hi, Alex. We must have been adding our comments at the same moment, and I just now saw your comment. Thank you very much for the compli. The Hercs do a much shallower climbout than the commercial passenger a/c, so they pass by me either at eye level or slightly lower, which makes it possible for me to get the shopping area in the background.
Awesome photo!

John R., Peter M., and Bill >> Thanks to each of you. And Peter and Bill >>> Always appreciate hearing from fellow vets. TY for your service, guys. (Wave) Also to Bill >>> I don't know if you are aware of this or not, so I'll pass it along: In the photo you took of KLAS, if you look way out (toward the top of your picture), you can see runways. That's Nellis in the distance.
