Who doesn't luv a B-17?
Dave VanDevier
What a beautiful bird !!
Michael Sanchez
My all time favorite aircraft. So beautiful and rugged all at the same time. She could take so much battle damage and still get those young men home. Read a story of a B-17 that struggled to get back to England and when she finally landed the ground crews counted all the bullet holes and STOPPED at 300. The Liberator couldn't handle that kind of damage!

Anyone know the significance of that one checkered cowl?
Martin Dewhurst
In reply to Bernie Behling regarding the yellow and black chequered cowl on SallyB.The B17 was bought by an English businessman, Ted White, in 1975. In 1983 Ted was killed flying his T-6 Harvard. Ted's Harvard had a yellow and black cowl and in his memory the same yellow and black cowl was put on to the Sally B. Ted flies when she flies!

at least the nazi's had excellent nose art to help sooth the fact we bombed them! For men on the front lines, thats like hard porn since they haven't seen a girl in FOREVER
