I have pictures of myself standing next to these planes when I was there in 2011-2013. We knew back then why the planes were benched. If only people truly knew the amount of fraud, waste, and abuse that occurs overseas (and at home also), they would burn D.C. to the ground. It's all a huge waste.

This is a typical response from someone with seemingly limited airline food experience solely from U.S. based airlines. The experience on most foreign based legacy carriers is far superior to American carriers, and the food and service reflect that. Having flown on a Singapore A380, the food and service experience was excellent.

In many military contracts, there are requirements for the machine to have a certain amount of U.S. sourced parts. While that is great in concept, it isn't always great in the long run and can deliver a subpar product. The U.S.C.G. Dauphin helicopter is a classic example of "If it's not broke, don't fix it."

That is a comment full of fallacy. Yes, the fuselage is from the old design, but everything else is a fresh design update. It's not like the fuselages of the KC-46 are NOS. If I'm not mistaken, the A330 fuselage is from a design of the same era from its predecessor aircraft, the A300. If so, then the aircraft are virtually identical in terms of your criticism.

I lived in Colorado Springs in the mid 90's when they were high altitude flight testing the 777 before certification. That was quite the sight to behold back then. In 2013, I was in Dubai and was able to see the Emirate's branded 1000th 777. That in and of itself is an amazing milestone! Hopefully one day I will able to see this 2000th bird, as well. Congrats to Boeing for an amazing and successful aircraft!

I lived in Colorado Springs in '94 and remember seeing this beautiful new design for the first time when she was doing high altitude testing out of COS. I marveled at her size and grace. I'm glad she is being preserved and I hope to see her again someday soon!

That is the main Basic Training facility for the Coast Guard. The beach just happens to be on that property and is thus off limits as that's a controlled access base. There are a lot of military bases with water front access.

While I've always loved aviation, my career path took me down the road of law enforcement. After nearly 20 years, I can tell you police departments have the SAME EXACT problem. The type and quality of person applying at departments has slid far down the hill. As a Field Training Officer, a majority of those that (barely) passed the academy, failed field training. Do they get washed out? NO! They get remedial training. When they fail that, they get more remedial training. I refused to put my name on them, so somebody else signs for them. I hate to say this, but if you truly knew the level of ineptitude and poor training many officers have, you would sleep with one eye open.

I too saw this in D.C. recently. It was sobering to see and realize just how far we have come and how fast we have gone in just the last 100 years, compared to the previous thousands. It was a fantastic show and I recommend you see it if you can!
