Marijana is worse than booze. A teenager recovers completely a day after excess alcohol if he doesn't die while intoxicated.. But a teenager smoking weed weekly is permanently less intelligent and less motivated and higher risk of psychiatric problems.

It is still amazing that we don't have weekly reports of shoulder launched heat seeking missiles hitting military and commercial planes from terrorist groups in many locations in Middle East and elsewhere. Even the older generations of missiles would still hit a target sometimes.

They perhaps contacted the CDC because they thought that contact tracing would be done and that would have prevented some spreading of virus to high risk people. She probably had the virus but she also probably had some underlying health problem, and we will never know since death certificates can be biased. Our contact tracing in US are poor overall and overwhelmed. I have know rather healthy people die of this virus with horrible coughing and no one allowed to visit them until the last hours. And I have know others with serious health problems (stage IV cancers) that caused them to die and the positive virus test was a minimal added cause.

I read it but it's sarcastic comment on the state of US medical and legal system that we often don't take responsibility for our actions and warped reasoning leads to blaming someone else for our poor choices:/

If she has claustrophobia then it is not her fault that she has medical condition. And if the crew did not specifically state that no one is to open the emergency exit, then it may be the airline's fault for not reading this to her. Etc.

You're right that we will take a lot of information from others such as in medicine in education programs and that is acceptable because teaching helps boosts egos and makes student numbers increase. Everyone is a winner. There isn't a lot of money to be made in education. But the business of medicine is different and that is all about doing it the USA way to make as much money as possible or you cannot play the medicine game here. It doesn't matter to many decision makers if it doesn't work out in long run, as long as its done our own individual way for quick benefits. If the weather is hot today, then worry about global warming, but it is pleasant today then there is nothing to worry about.

But an unwritten rule in the US is to never ever take advice from another country regardless of whether it is good or bad. The US is proud, an exception to all the rules of world, and independent free thinkers who would rather do something our own way even if it is wrong because it's our own way.

Mr Hahn made two reasonable points before getting a little too vague in making connections. The research that is available on Medscape concludes that there will be 33,890 excess cancer deaths in the next year in US due to delays in diagnosis and treatments due to the virus epidemic: https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/929769 So that is a significant number but maybe only a fifth or sixth of the deaths due to covid virus. And anxiety and mood disorders and suicides are increasing. Asthma deaths will decrease. These are not easy decisions but I agree that poverty can kill by slower means. BTW, I won't take you up on the challenge with my sisters.
