Russian airlines will keep planes leased from foreign firms
The fate of hundreds of planes leased by Russian airlines from foreign companies grew murkier Monday after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law letting the airlines register those planes and continue flying them. Russian state media said the law will let Russian airlines keep their fleets and operate foreign planes on routes within Russia. It was never safe to fly on Russian airlines and it won't be long before all their planes will be grounded for lack of parts. Perhaps that will make aviation safer without commercial airplanes over Russia. Might even curb their carbon foot print at the same time. Doubt they will be able to retrofit the fleet to all electric. Not many choices for travel, except train, or one of their crappy cars.
