It would be reasonable to request that the PiAware software be made available as either a .tgz file or a Debian package for those of us that are Linux-savvy.

What is the advantage or running Pi 2 vs the original one? Just wondering since I bought my setup the day before this was announced so I didn't get Pi 2.

There's no advantage currently to the Pi 2 for PiAware, but we're getting the word out so we can plan to use the newer hardware moving forward.

There's also a newer case that's better and some lower price items, etc, that just make setup easier, but your current gear is great.

Do I need a dedicated computer or can I occasionally remove my laptop for doing work?

A computer isn't required to run PiAware.

How long will it take for my pi aware device to be recognized? Does the antenna need to "see" the sky?

Yes, ideally it should be outdoors or by the window. Did you successfully claim the device?

No it did not claim the device and it was connected for quite awhile. That being said I have not yet tried it at home I was in my firehouse and the antenna was by a window but in a back corner of building. Do I have a problem though cause device was not claimed?

You need to complete last step of claiming it to be able to see the data. Is your computer on the same network as the PiAware?

Same network?? I would assume? My computer is on my home network and that's where the device is. How would I know? I did all the mac steps and plugged everything in. I'm actually going to try again about an hour from now.

Hey I appreciate your help more than you could ever know!! I have now setup at home and same thing it has not claimed it. So I'm going to assume they are on different networks. It says I need to configure manually. Can I use a USB cord to connect it to my computer to manually configure it? I hate when I feel stupid!!!
