As Albert Einstein once said: THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GENIUS AND STUPIDITY IS THAT GENIUS HAS ITS LIMITS. Hey, how about burying the damn thing on the Matterhorn!

I have a better idea. Lets bury 727 artists in the desert instead! Jk...

They have restrictions on the burial of organic waste...

You guys are not missing anything...you are not lemmings and your brain still functions independently of the crowd. The crap that gets passed off as "art" is actually pretty hilarious...not because of any intrinsic value but primarily to watch the "snooty elite" fawn over pure trash ascribing self serving motives to the artist who is likely equally clueless.

My only problem with it all is when the same snooty elite demand the taxpayer (that is us) pay for this garbage.

If he pays for it on his own.. Ok.. It is his money to spend If it comes from Tax Payer dollars then he can stick it where the son don't shine. I agree Donaldson.

Your opinion of what has passed for ART in the past is kinda like mine and a FaceBook post last week says it all:
Urinate on a Crucifix, you're an "artist" ...
Urinate on The American Flag, you're a "Constitutionalist" ...
Urinate on a Police Car, you're a "Freedom Loving 99%er" ...
Urinate on the Taliban That Just Tried To Kill You & Your Fellow Marines, you're a Villain....

While visiting my wife, when she was my girlfriend, at her college once, I was stopped in my tracks and uttered the words "What the Fu...." to which my wife responded: "yeah, it's supposed to be art...stupid huh?" Somebody legit, threw a bunch of those plastic lei's you get at the dollar store into a tree...there had to be 200 of them.

If that's art, then is throwing rolls of toilet paper into trees at Halloween considered creating a masterpiece?

Am I missing the point of the pointless spending here?

You aren't the only one. All of us where I work are wondering what the point is. If we wanted to use the lavatory on an airplane, we'd fly somewhere.

Because. That's the only answer I can think of - "because."

Point Well taken. But it seems a waste of a fully intact aircraft. I will donate my SAAB for Art's sake-more appropriate.

He's burying a 727 that's been decommissioned, so I presume it has been sitting in the Boneyard for a while and already stripped of essential parts and avionics. I can think of much better things to do with an old 727, like turn it into a small house.

Yeah make it into an RV..great idea..mobile art..why make it exclusive?
VlasicJr

RV would certainly be the better option. Best alternative that I have seen so far.

I'd rather stop by the museum in L.A. with the United DC-8 sitting on a pedestal outside. Now THAT'S art! (plus my Dad used to fly it)

Look at the bright side, none have to see this art.

Unfortunately it doesn't reveal the downside or the famous other hand...who gets to pay for this prank on the public?
Derg

So who is paying the bill?

Well, so far it all seems to be on him. The only government entity mentioned is the local planning comission granting a conditional use for the land. It was purchased by a private company so??????????????????????????????????

What's wrong with having it above ground.........does he really think anyone would pay to see this project?? Sounds like a guy that buried a bunch of Cadillacs way back when. Already forgotten. A few Artists are a bit dumb. Has a lot of time on their hands or Brains??

Apparently he has or has access to some money too.
