Sounds like the young pilot did a marvelous job of staying calm and flying the airplane to obtain the best case outcome. Well done.
Never mind a forced landing into the swamp/woods at night!!!
The report states minor injuries, but fire rescue said he was in a lot of pain - "He had serious injuries and hypothermia as well. It was a cold night out there, minus 18."
He remained on his cell phone for 2 hours - good example to make sure your cell phone is fully charged before flight - or even a spare fully charged battery!!!
