Hundreds of American Flights Cancelled Due to Reported Pilot Shortage
American Airlines canceled over a hundred flights on Saturday and canceled hundreds of others in advance after a shortage of crew left the airline unable to operate some of its summer route network. american,as well as other carriers,did not furlough employees due to the covid pandemic,but instead kept those on wanting to stay..they must hava had a tremendous number of retirements or those accetpting some kind of "buyout" package..this is NOT good..in years past,people were witing in line an applying as often as possible for aorline jobs of any kind becaus the benefits and pay were on the higher end..i am guessing right now because of all the "turmoil"people are less inclined...
I took a quick look at the AA job page. It only shows 122 openings (around the world) they are tying to hire; truly wonder about this indication. Typed in "Pilot" and the only hit was "Manager, Pilot Career Recruiting"; really do not know what to make of this search, but I am not able to even figure what I feel as even a good guess of the situation.
