Ummm...shouldn't they SLOW DOWN their inspections (i.e. be more thorough)?

Media goal: to alarm over inform. The title hints Southwest is guilty for the accident that killed a passenger because the have been too slow in inspecting their airplane engines (lazy? distracted? avoiding cost?). The FAA ordered "all CFM56-7B engines that have accrued a certain number of takeoffs" and says that "Southwest crews were inspecting similar engines the airline had in service, focusing on the 400 to 600 oldest of the CFM56 engines..." That's the problem, it should've been the mechanics that inspect, not the crews. :) The AWD is about "the an ultrasonic inspection within the next six months of the fan blades on all CFM56-7B engines that have accrued a certain number of takeoffs", not all engines.

It states the second engine failure of that type of engine in two years but SWA has had two engine failures this year alone. Not sure which 737-xxx but he most recent was in February.
