McDonnell Douglas DC-10 (N554FE)
This is the start of a C-Check at the FedEx facility at LAX (Los Angeles, California USA. This busy, RubeGoldberg-like scene shows FedEx technicians at LAX tackling a number of dangerous tasks demonstrating competence and teamwork, some guys working 50-60 feet in the air. There is a whole lot of activity going on here in the early hours of the morning. Notice the tail cone is flipped open and that the elevators access panels have been opened. As of this morning, Thursday, 20 November 2014, the plane has been moved into its bay in the FedEx Hangar.

What a fabulously unique shot this is. There are several amazing aspects to this photo: aviation "working" action, artistic geometric shapes, shade and light contrasts, ... A superlative pic. 5+ stars!
Very particular shot !! I like it a lot, a nice static/dynamic composition !
Amazing shot! Do you happen to know why this DC-10 is getting this kind of maintenance?
The flaps are down, spoilers are up very uncommon sight!

Thank you all for the nice compliments. The plane is in for a C-Check. See Wikepedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_maintenance_checks for a complete definition.
Very nice shot!
WOW!
Yeah Tom the tail fell off
Men at work. I've worked on AC for a number of years, both Military and Civilian and it never ceases to amaze me what we can do.
The elevators have not been removed. Those are just access panels on the horizontal stab hanging down. Nice pic though!
Thanks Chase, the elevator access panels have been opened.
