— — - Always a pleasure to see the Corsair aka the "Whistling Death" tearing up the skies. Although originally built and manufactured by Vought, production contracts were given to the Goodyear Aircraft Company (FG-1) and the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation (F3A-1) to keep up with the increased demand for the aircraft. This particular aircraft was built in 1945 by Goodyear and shortly served with the Royal New Zealand Air Force (NZ5612) before sitting in storage for decades. Thankfully this aircraft survived the scrapper plus the elements and was eventually restored to airworthiness.br /br /OWNER:br /Black Pearl 51 LLCbr /br /AIRCRAFT:br /Goodyear FG-1D Corsairbr /br /REGISTRATION:br /N43FGbr /br /LOCATION:br /National Warplane Museum - Geneseo Airshowbr /br /DATE:br /June 5, 2022

FG-1A and FG-1D (called Corsair Mk IV by the Fleet Air Arm):

This was the designation for Corsairs that were license-built by Goodyear, to the same specifications as Vought's Corsairs.[122] The first Goodyear built FG-1 flew in February 1943[123] and Goodyear began delivery of FG-1 Corsairs in April 1943.[57] The company continued production until the end of the war and delivered 4,007 FG-1 series Corsairs, including sixty FG-1Ds to the RNZAF[123] and 857 (400 FG-1 and FG-1A, and 457 FG-1D) to the Royal Navy as Corsair Mk IVs.[124][125]

The FG-1 series where 'fixed-wing' aka could not be folded w/o external assistance, as the Hydraulics where never installed

Was this taken at a recent air show in Fort Wayne, IN? I saw a FG-1D fly over Lake County, Indiana while at the park with my kiddos. Tracking data said it was from a museum in Northern Illinois.
