Designed and built in Canada . Of late , these aircraft are getting quite the work out .

I was working in Canadair in the mid 60’s when the CL215 was designed, developed, built & delivered. Spectacular,

It's a CL415 SuperScooper, a turbo-prop evolution of the original firefighting amphibian.

I lived in Montreal, about a mile from Canadair as a kid in 1960s. I remember seeing a few CL215s flying over my house. Pretty cool. They're great aircraft.

A perfectly purposed airplane! Really earning their keep this year!

It looks to me as if Viking (see the logo on the fuselage) re-engined CL-215 C-GBYU with turboprops and some other updating mods. Plenty of old-ish photos on-line of C-GBYU with the old piston engines; this shot is dated 2021.

Most decidedly not a CL-215 - those are turbine engines.
John Shearer
miskito is quite correct. CL415 with P&W turboprops installed in the manufacturing process - not an add-on/mod. Get two of these feeding out of a body of water close to the fire and you have the best fire suppression system without the troubles associated with retardant mixtures. The CL scoopers can mix some foam with the water to enhance the longevity of effectiveness in putting out the fire. Flew P2V tanker #10 during the 2002 season and ten years or so doing air attack platform work in turbo Cessna 337 Skymasters.

Viking Bought the Type certificate from Canadair and now they sell not only the CL215, also the CL415, Super scooper, The Older Dehavelland Beaver, Otter, Tubo Beaver ,and also I believe the twin otter

There are pictures on this site of the same plane with the old radial engines. You can even see the "green" engines. Viking will upgrade old CL215s to the CL415 standard.

CL 415 of course. The same we have in France for fire fighting. Great shot as usual TNx.
