— — - Lockheed C-121G. During my tour of duty at Otis AFB, Cape Cod MA., crews would do TDY duty in Iceland, looking for Russian Bears flying down the slot headed to Cuba. This airplane was carrying my room mate, Jim Yule and his crew to Iceland for a routine crew replacement. I was very near the runway when it took off and the noise was tremendous. Lockheed C-121G. During my tour of duty at Otis AFB, Cape Cod MA., crews would do TDY duty in Iceland, looking for Russian 'Bears' flying down the 'slot' headed to Cuba. This airplane was carrying my room mate, Jim Yule and his crew to Iceland for a routine crew replacement. I was very near the runway when it took off and the noise was tremendous. It was a beautiful sight. Picture taken in Summer of 1967, next to runway 23.
