Great action shot. Are we having fun yet? Will my chute open?

Written on 13/08/2020 by Paul Wisgerhof

I almost feel like i remember this day in March. The purple NEOs against the dark sky. This might've been the last time volaris came by before the border closed

Dave, this one is one of my all-time favs!

Fun fact, this was the plane that was featured in the 80's movie schlock "Hard Ticket To Hawaii" when it was N99786

You can't go wrong with an MD NOTAR helicopter!!!!

The MD520N with NOTAR is absolutely my favorite helicopter. Lucky dog that gets to fly this wonderful machine!!!

Holy cow, what a livery - superb photo Thorsten.

Written on 12/08/2020 by Gavin Hughes

Great to see you've brought out some more of your superb pics Bobby.

Written on 12/08/2020 by Gavin Hughes

Really well taken set of pics Chris and I particularly like this. It's good to see a scene once in a while when they're well shot and this certainly fits the criteria.

Thats a great shot Gary! 5*X5*

Written on 12/08/2020 by Dave Sheehy

Thanks Gavin. I am going to swap the lens from my D810 to the D7100 and try some shots. Its a Nikkor 80-400, which is big, but manageable on the crop sensor body. Thanks for posting all your great shots here!

Great Basin Aviation's owner Denny Prins told me that adding this tail dragger to his aircraft fleet will enable his instructors to greatly expand the piloting skills of the student pilots they teach. Taxiing, taking off and landing a tricycle gear aircraft that has no nose gear but instead has a single rear wheel are skills that require practice and this Citabria is the perfect "classroom" in which to learn those skills.

That's one wild livery, nice catch!

I have been trying to get a pic of an aircraft in front of the DSM tower for a while, and on this day I went to see the SWA Heroines of the Heart Livery and while there I saw this gorgeous Hawker 800. There was also a Gulfstream G350 on the Elliott ramp.

Epic up close shot, Gary! I love the scene on this particular C130!

The tail number now belongs to a Beech 300, so I assume the bird was exported or became beer cans.

Dave - rwb's suggestions are right on but I've found some oddities with Nikon's mid-range zoom lenses. I've used Nikon cameras from back in film days and their DSLRs are superb when combined with 3rd party lenses, ie Sigma or Tamron. That said though Nikon make some unbelievably good lenses. I've got a Nikkor 16-35 (useless for aviation of course unless for interior shots) and a Nikkor 200-500 lens. If you can afford it, and you need such a big zoom, that 200-500 is amazing. It's stabilization is incredible and it's very sharp with precise focusing. I use it on my D7500, used it on the D750 that I had and now use it on my D850. It's big heavy beast though. Good luck and practice, practice, practice.

Super, super shot and holy moly, being that close - instead of what we normally have to do, you can actually zoom out!

Written on 11/08/2020 by Gavin Hughes

That's one heck of good and interesting photo.
