Doc's Friends, a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring the last-known airworthy B-29, has started a crowdfunding campaign to return Doc to the skies. Although Doc hasn't flown in 60 years, the organization anticipates that he'll be airborne by the end of this year. Follow the money, cause they don't make enough of it to resurrect a well over 60 year old B29 that also, oddly enough, hasn't flown since the federal gubmint quit payin for it! If you think keeping a B29 in the air is affordable, just ax the CAF what it costs to keep FIFI flyin. Throw in crowd funding (no accountability) and my YGS meter goes off. I'm not really tryin to malign these folks, no dog in the hunt, I'm sayin I wouldn't write the first check, and if you feel the need to contribute, do it at your local museum or an established one you know and keep a Stearman, T6, T28, you get the idea flying. Or better yet, go take a flight you'll never forget! I did it in a P51.

My bad, wasn't aware of this airplane or how close it was to flying. My bad, didn't read the story first, so I thought they were resurrecting the dead. I'll stick with the rest of it.

Maybe you mixed this story at first glance with the one about the Concorde.

To each his own but think that this work has been done by a group of people who were lucky to even see the engines start the first time deserves a positive post. If it cant support something then move on to the next. I will probably never see it fly or touch it like I did FIFI but am sending in what I can afford to them. I will fly in FIFI if it ever comes to the west coast again.
