We live in an era where governments obscure the truth and lie about it. They have little fear of losing power because they have stacked the deck to assure re-election. Not just in America (no other reason could explain Pres. Obama being elected twice) but in countries throughout the world.

I cannot understand why when the airplane first went silent all hands and the cook were not at radar stations looking for it. Why did Rolls and Inmarsat keep silent for days whilst the waters between Malaysia and Viet Nam were searched?

We all pray for the souls aboard flight MH370 and right thinking human beings will share their disgust with me for the withholding of information when time was of the essence. When lives are in the balance that is no time to engage in politics or covering your posterior.

I see your argument Ric. Rolls Royce take an interest in engines that are on a full guaranteed lease agreement. Are we sure that these engines were using telemetry to send data back to Rolls Royce? We need to know the business agreement. The information that is witheld will be from military assets in that area and in particular the AWACS systems used by the USA and the RusFed. Given that we have a major incident in the Crimea there will be plenty of surveillance going on. Military marine vessels will also have data and China has plenty of assets she can use. The situation is politically delicate, the Malaysian carrier is known to be sub standard in terms of accepted international standards. On another thread on this site we can see that the machine was held at 17 and a half altitude for much longer after take off and as soon as it reached cruise altitude that signal stopped. So the transponder was off right at that point in the flight. You are correct is saying that authorities are "covering their posteriors" but I don't think they are doing this to escape from liability, moreover they are doing this to protect us all from an escalation of the Ukraine crisis.

"When lives are in the balance that is no time to engage in politics or covering your posterior."

But when lives aren't in the balance, you can look down your nose with righteous indignance at everyone else while making blatantly political statements and Monday morning quarterbacking the team to victory.

Stay classy...
