Not. In. This. Lifetime.
Over the years I have seen several horrible ideas presented at Oshkosh (some actually flying). This Terrafugia thingy has to be among the all-time top 5 of horrible ideas. Even the video is a bit frightening; I envisioned it descending into a bone yard of other mangled Terrafugias mixed with EAA ball caps. This thing is what gives "Experimental" a bad name. I guess it proves once again what a bunch of jokers those guys at EAA truly are. They are really good guys I suppose, but I wouldn't want my daughter to marry one. That said, Oshkosh is still a good airplane show and I would like to visit there again someday.
Why not? Everybody has to die of something, I guess.
it's called "CGItis": every few years there's something that exists only as renderings but gets the Wired readers all tingly; a few years and maybe an SEC suit later the company folds--maybe leaving behind a testbed to rust in the wind and rain, if they're lucky
