Somebody's in love with UAVs.
So it saves the cost of pilot salary and adds the cost of the remote controller.
24,000 pounds of water in an hour, at 8#/gal that makes about 3,000 gals. nat 250 gal/drop that's 12 drops- 1 every 5 minutes. That implies the water source is real close.

How does the cost and effectiveness compare with existing staffed flights?
How does it select a hotspot along a half-mile fireline? Does it listen to the fire boss about where to deploy?

Maybe a good conceptual start anyway.

All the flying school drop-outs are now finding a second life as pilots of UAV's :)

You missed the drone for finding hotspots. LOL

So does the drone, find one hotspot among 500, miss 499!
Hot spot A threatens personnel, hot spot B threatens structure, hot spot 3 makes good coverage for the 5 o'clock news. Which one does the onboard decision software select?

Better question is which one does the remote operator select. LOL

The FAA ought to let the drones go and let local municipalities regulate them. That said, they should retain FULL control over class B space and any other control zone and any infringement dealt with severely. Put the challenge on the operators to know the rules.
I wonder if Amazon or any of these other non flying folks realize what is up there at any given time or just look up and see empty sky.
