Investigators have retrieved the first flight recorder from the wreckage of a Boeing 747-400F which crashed in the vicinity of Bishkek Manas airport.

The ACT Airlines aircraft, operating under the MyCargo brand, came down to the west of the airport following a flight from Hong Kong.

Kyrgyzstan’s government states that the first recorder has been located, although it has not disclosed whether the device is a flight-data or cockpit-voice recorder.

“Rescue teams are carrying out searches for the remaining flight recorders,” says the government.

It has revised its casualty figure from the accident, with the country’s emergency situations ministry putting the number of fatalities at 31.
