DSC_0991Bombardier said on Saturday that Falko Regional Aircraft Limited has signed two letters of intent to purchase up to 24 CS100 jets.

Falko is an aircraft lessor based in Britain.  The announcement is the first new CSeries deal since the beginning of the year.

Bombardier markets the CSeries as a challenger to 100- to 149-seat single-aisle models from Airbus and Boeing although only one major airline has ordered the plane.  The Montreal-based aircraft manufacturer says that the CSeries will have superior fuel and operating efficiencies

A CSeries test plane suffered a turbine failure in late May, grounding the test fleet, but Bombardier said that the plane would still meet its 2015 target for entry into service.

Bombardier currently has 203 firm orders for the CSeries.
